"After a minimum of 3 years ageing in the cellars, Ivory Label unveils its colour with gold-coloured highlights that hint at the presence of Pinot Noir. On the nose, the champagne exudes aromas of ripe fruit, cinnamon and honey. On the palate it is fruity, all fullness and sensuality – the perfect thing if you wish to serve something refined to accompany foie gras, fruit tarts and succulent desserts. " - Producer Note
"A few years ago Guillaume d’Angerville began expanding from Volnay with the acquisition of vineyards in Jura. Since then, he has added to his holdings. The 2017 Arbois Trois Cépages is a pretty blend of Pinot Noir, Trousseau and Poulsard. Bright floral notes and red berry fruit are nicely lifted in an attractive, gracious light-bodied wine that is easy to drink now. I suppose a juicier red like a Dolcetto, Barbera, Aglianico or even Chianti Classico would have technically been a better match for this food, but the wine was delicious just the same." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com
Aromas of cherries, raspberries, burning embers and raw cocoa introduce the 2018 Côte de Brouilly, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy but precise wine, with lovely depth at the core, refined tannins and a long, mineral finish. This is a serious, age-worthy cru Beaujolais, even if it's sufficiently charming to be approached young.
"When it comes to Familiemoord, having all the components of a similar vintage are not that important to me. The 2019 vintage Grenache was a little bit lighter than usual. I had in barrel some 2018 and a little bit of that made the Grenade component a little bit plusher and when you mix different vintages the wine needs to be labelled as a non-vintage. The Grenache fermented whole clusters in an open top fermentation vessel. The 2018 component is from a trellised vineyard in Wellington where the 2019 is from a bush Vine Organically Certified Wellington Vineyard. The Pinot noir from Elgin were fermented 50% whole cluster and the Cinsaut from darling, 100% whole clusters. The fine crunchy tannins that come from the stems give this rather low in acid wine a sense of freshness." - Winemakers notes
