Domaine Robert Groffier Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 2017

"The 2017 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru was bottled just before Christmas 2018. It has an engaging, almost beguiling bouquet of brambly red berry fruit, sous-bois, light tobacco aromas and a discreet marine influence. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and slightly ferrous red berry fruit. More broody and introspective than the nascent 2018, with a subtly spicy pinch of cracked black pepper on the fresh finish. Excellent." - Neal Martin, Antonio Galloni's Vinous

Domaine Robert Groffier Chambolle-Musigny “Les Amoureuses” Premier Cru 2016

R4,995.00 inc. VAT
"The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru is 50% whole bunches (mainly from the older vines), matured in 25% new oak. It has a gorgeous bouquet of black cherries, crushed violets, oyster shell and light sous-bois aromas. Over several minutes, it seems to gain more and more amplitude. The palate is medium-bodied with a sorbet-fresh opening, layers of shimmering black cherries and raspberry, and a touch of graphite. It displays fine structure and tension, perhaps not quite the same depth of fruit as the 2016 toward the finish, yet it remains a very finely crafted Les Amoureuses that will offer up to 20 years of drinking pleasure." - Neal Martin, Antonio Galloni's Vinous

Domaine Robert Groffier Chambolle-Musigny “Les Hauts Doix” Premier Cru 2017

"The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Hauts Doix 1er Cru comes from 70-year-old vines, including 50% whole bunches, matured in 25% new oak. This has a very floral bouquet, already open and welcoming, with pressed rose petals infusing, almost dictating, the vibrant red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy red fruit. Not a light Chambolle-Musigny per se, yet nimble and light on its toes, with an unprepossessing, detailed, tart finish and a dash of white pepper on the aftertaste. This will probably drink earlier than Groffier’s other 2017s but should still offer 15 years of drinking pleasure." - Neal Martin, Antonio Galloni's Vinous

Domaine Robert Groffier Chambolle-Musigny “Les Sentiers” Premier Cru 2017

"The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Sentiers 1er Cru comes from a parcel of 80-year-old vines, containing 25% whole bunch fruit and matured in 75% new oak. The bouquet is completely different from Les Hauts Doix, displaying more density, darker fruit, more substance and a less airy style, but still very pure and detailed. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. There is plenty of lightly spiced black fruit, gentle grip, an appealing sense of symmetry and a longer tail on the finish than the Les Haut Doix. Superb." - Neal Martin, Antonio Galloni's Vinous
