Poderi Aldo Conterno ‘Conca Tre Pile’ Barbera d’Alba 2016

R595.00 inc. VAT
"Elegant is not a word applicable to most Barberas, but this one is exactly that: a graceful expression of dark plums, blueberries and mandarin oranges. Medium body, fine, silky tannins and bright plums on the finish. "James Suckling

Salvioni Rosso di Montalcino 2018

"The 2018 Salvioni Rosso di Montalcino leads off with a zesty, fresh display of Sangiovese fruit, as a mix of cherry and strawberry is complemented by hints of sweet spice, leather and gorgeous exotic florals. On the palate, I’m finding a wonderfully pure expression, focused on ripe red fruits with energizing acids and subtle spice, as pretty inner rose develops toward the close. Hints of fine tannin and minerals mingle throughout the finish, and a staining of black cherry lingers on and on. What a beautiful, feminine, and truly enjoyable vintage for the Salvioni Rosso."- Eric Guido, Vinous

Champagne Pol Roger Brut Réserve Non-Vintage

R895.00 inc. VAT
"Pale yellow. Toasty melon and white peach on the nose, with orange zest and dusty minerals emerging with air. Lively, mineral-laced citrus and orchard fruit flavors show good palate-coating intensity without any excess weight. The clinging finish displays a subtle floral quality and repeating orange and melon notes." - Josh Raynolds, Antonio Galloni's Vinous

Poderi Aldo Conterno Barolo Bussia ‘Cicala’ 2015

"The 2015 Barolo Bussia Cicala is like a little steam train that keeps pushing forward. The wine shows the forward momentum and power of the vintage, imparting ripe and rich primary intensity along the way. This steady and elegant expression of Nebbiolo reveals dried blackberry, tar, licorice, smoke and white truffle. The wine's approach is broad and textured as it rolls over the palate. Some 6,000 bottles were produced." - Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Domaine Leflaive Meursault 1er Cru Sous Le Dos D’âne 2018

"Mingling aromas of orange oil and Anjou pear with hints of white flowers, buttery pastry and toasted nuts, the 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Sous le Dos d'Ane is medium to full-bodied, chalky and incisive, with a bright spine of acidity and a mineral finish. This has turned out nicely and should reward a bit of bottle age."- William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru 2017

"From the same grape supplier as Chapelle-Chambertin. Here the colour is a little bit fresher and the nose too is not so uniformly black – more a dark red approach. This retains some elegance, with a classy full-bodied red fruit across the piece, some subtlety to the detail, ripe coulis de framboise, a faint appearance of acidity and very good length. A little limestone coolness behind. More discretion, which is to be welcomed." -Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

Château Tertre Rôteboeuf Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2007 Magnum

R8,795.00 inc. VAT
"Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 2007 Bordeaux tasting. The 2007 Le Tertre-Rôteboeuf has an irresistible bouquet with plush red and black fruit, crème de cassis and vanilla pod, almost Burgundian in style and billowing with aeration in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied and plush with dark plum, macerated red cherries and strawberry. But this is all about that velvety texture and the weight and concentration on the finish. Surely this is Tertre-Rôteboeuf? It is! Perhaps the most delicious wine of the vintage." - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate
