Domaine du Pelican Arbois Poulsard 2016

R475.00 inc. VAT
"Produced exclusively with the fruit from the old Jacques Puffeney vineyard, the 2016 Arbois Poulsard is the second vintage of a very pale, floral and light red that many could call a rosé, with the character of the grape and Burgundian precision and clarity. The destemmed grapes fermented in oak vats and aged in oak foudre for ten months. It's really fresh, light and tasty. They produced 4,000 bottles in this second vintage." - Luis Gutiérrez, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Domaine du Pélican Savagnin Ouillé 2016

R475.00 inc. VAT
"Showing the pure varietal profile, the 2016 Arbois Savagnin Ouillé reflects very much the style of Domaine du Pelican—clean, fresh and focused wines. It fermented and aged in foudre and 500-liter barrels for ten months. It has good ripeness and nicely integrated oak. The palate revealed pungent flavors or great intensity and good acidity. 18,000 bottled produced. The aim is to make Savagnin the grape of the Domaine. This is my favourite wine of the portfolio, a wine with energy and character" - Luis Gutiérrez, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Domaine du Pélican Savagnin Ouillé 2017

R480.00 inc. VAT
"The pure, elegant and clean 2017 Arbois Savagnin Ouillé is a more powerful vintage with concentration through low yields, but it still a straight and vertical white, with an unusual combination of power and elegance. There is a pleasant bitterness on the finish that somewhat offsets the ripeness of the year and makes the wine come through as nicely balanced. I tasted a 2015 for comparison, and that wine felt fresher than this, and the nose had more complexity and nuance." - Luis Gutiérrez, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Domaine du Pélican Trois Cepages 2017

R490.00 inc. VAT
"A few years ago Guillaume d’Angerville began expanding from Volnay with the acquisition of vineyards in Jura. Since then, he has added to his holdings. The 2017 Arbois Trois Cépages is a pretty blend of Pinot Noir, Trousseau and Poulsard. Bright floral notes and red berry fruit are nicely lifted in an attractive, gracious light-bodied wine that is easy to drink now. I suppose a juicier red like a Dolcetto, Barbera, Aglianico or even Chianti Classico would have technically been a better match for this food, but the wine was delicious just the same." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com

Lucien Aviet Savagnin 2011

R675.00 inc. VAT
"The very expressive 2011 Savagnin Reserve du Caveau matured with a veil of yeast in 225-liter barrels and a couple of demi-muids for seven years. It has good texture and cut, like a mini Vin Jaune. In fact, when I inquired why this wasn't a Vin Jaune, they told me the Vin Jaune is just a barrel selection of this same wine that is just bottled three months later. This is just a bit lighter-bodied, with a lighter color too, but it has all the character of the Vin Jaune with a little less complexity and length. This is a what they want to call a grand Savagnin rather than a small jaune. This is a bargain for the quality it delivers." - Luis Gutiérrez, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
