BLANKbottle Pseudonym 2019

R285.00 inc. VAT
"Pseudonym is made from a small 69-year old little vineyard. It grows in a little valley into the mountain in Darling. Seeing that it is the only food source around, the birds eat the grapes every year. The farmer could never use the valley for something else, so he kept the vineyard. When the grapes eventually ripened, there wouldn’t be much left to harvest. He would then pick the bits and throw it with the other grapes from the farm headed for the big co-operative winery. This was what had happened for 64 years. I asked him if we could cover the whole vineyard with bird nets, I bought the nets and he gave the labour. It was at the age of 65 when, for the first time, a wine was made exclusively from that little vineyard. I make two wines from it. Retirement@65 - a blend of the little block of Cinsaut and 25% Shiraz as well as Pseudonym which is 100% the Old vineyard Cinsaut." - Producer Note

Donovan Rall Cinsault 2018

R250.00 inc. VAT
"A wine doesn't have to be big to be complex' says Donovan Rall of this refined, age-worthy Cinsault, which combines fruit from Darling and the Swartland. Textured, refreshing yet with quite a bit of tannin for the variety, this is crunchy, complex and elegant with layers of summer berry and black cherry fruit." - Tim Atkin MW, South African Special Report 2019

Sadie Family Wines “Pofadder” 2019

"In 2018 we picked the Cinsaut grapes in the Pofadder vineyard quite early on the account of the drought but in 2019 the vineyard looked much more buffered against the drought and we picked riper, closer to the ripening average we have come to in the past. The wine immediately responded by just having a more complex dynamic. The aromas of the 2019 Pofadder are some of the most perfumed to date and the aromatic design is more complex and not just running on a singular red fruit line. The mouthfeel is in greater equilibrium than ever before. The 2019 is quite open and will require less cellaring than 2018 and 2017." - Producer Note

Savage “Follow the Line” 2019

R285.00 inc. VAT
"In 2019, Follow The Line is made up of 89% Cinsault from 39 year old dry farmed Darling bush vines together with 11% Syrah from the same property. The wine spent 3 to 5 weeks on skins, 50% as whole bunches. Ageing took place over 10 months in oval foudre ranging from 1,500-2000 litres. True to form, this wine is ultra perfumed and incredibly pretty with soft seductive aromatics of crushed rose petals, spring cherry blossoms, dried lavender, a melange of red summer berry fruits and an exotic Turkish delight twist. The palate shows a fabulously self assured, compact core of bright red fruits, intense zippy red cherry Kool Aid, candied red berry notes and a super dense yet supple core of purity rarely seen on modest Cinsault. The tannins are fleshy, silky soft and almost imperceptible with the harmonious finesse of the sublime palate texture grabbing all the drinker’s attention. Superbly balanced, subtly piquant and saline, this wine has such a dreamy, creamy finish. Breathtaking purity of fruit and the most well honed, elegant poise to suggest that this could be one of finest expressions of Follow The Line to date. A truly profound wine. Drink this from release and over the next 3 - 10 years." - Greg Sherwood MW
