Fèlsina “Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia” 2016 Magnum

R1,495.00 inc. VAT
"The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia is powerful, rich and explosive, with tremendous drive. Even so, several bottles have been quite closed. That is probably a very good sign for the long-term, but readers should not plan on touching a bottle anytime soon. A wine of vertical drive and aromatic nuance, the 2016 Rancia is super-complexed. Only with a few hours of air does it show the nuances and layers that were so evident from barrel. The 2016 is a painfully stubborn wine in the early going, but it will offer superb drinking pleasure for those who can wait." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Fèlsina Chianti Classico “Berardenga” Magnum 2017

R650.00 inc. VAT
"The 2017 Chianti Classico Berardenga is a fine and precise wine that shows some of the warmth, good cheer and exuberance of the vintage, but that ultimately proves to be better contained and more carefully etched than I would have anticipated. The bouquet starts off with black fruit and light shadings of spice, but the best part is in those mineral aromas of flint and slate. Serve it with stuffed red peppers. Some 280,000 bottles were made." - Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Fèlsina Chianti Classico “Riserva Rancia” 2016

"The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia knocks it out of the park. Like the other new releases from Fèlsina, this pure expression of Sangiovese needs more time to evolve and improve with bottle age. But even at this young stage, you are made fully aware of the beautiful intensity and complexity of the quality fruit at its core. There is so much energy and tension here, further reinforced by the fresh acidity of the vintage. There are vibrant tones of wild cherry, raspberry and spice, followed up by white truffle and tilled earth." - Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Fèlsina Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia 2013 Magnum

R1,650.00 inc. VAT
"Here is another highlight of the vintage. The 2013 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia is a dark, moody and sophisticated wine. It does not reveal itself immediately or in any obvious way. Instead, it doses out its intensity in careful measurements. The whole performance is seductive to say the least. That slow momentum leads to dark cherry with spice, grilled herb, wet earth and dried rose. Felsina's Riserva Rancia is a very elegant wine, both on the nose and in the mouth." - Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Fèlsina Fontalloro 2013

R795.00 inc. VAT
"Gorgeous and soft, the 2013 Fontalloro is another landmark wine from this classic vintage. There is enormous intensity here and the wine is only at the beginning of its long aging trajectory. I suggest you put off drinking it for five to ten more years. There is evident thickness and generosity here, especially in the way those bold fruit favors are woven between dark spice and leather. There are sour accents on the close that remind you of the wine's youth. The tannins are fine and well integrated." - Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Fèlsina Fontalloro 2016

R750.00 inc. VAT
"The 2016 Fontalloro is the best vintage of this landmark wine that I have tasted thus far. This is a very elegant vintage, with more volume in the mouth and precise notes of tar, licorice, camphor ash, resin and Indian spice. In a race between the highly competitive 2015 and 2016 vintages, I give a slight advantage to this wine. The warmer 2015 vintage shows more richness and exuberant fruit. However, this wine from 2016 offers a more focused and chiseled delivery. I am hopeful that this wine will continue to evolve and sharpen as it ages in the bottle. This is a beautiful wine to put aside in your cellar for ten years or more." - Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino 2014 Magnum

R1,450.00 inc. VAT
"Il Poggione has one of the appellation's most enviable track records for quality and cellar longevity. The 2014 Brunello di Montalcino is a different beast. This wine prizes elegance, finesse and a compact mouthfeel. I would suggest a slightly shorter drinking window of approximately ten years. No matter how you cut it, the wine is absolutely beautiful and indeed ranks high on a list of favorite wines from the vintage. The bouquet is chiseled and tight with wild blueberry, plum, red rose and a touch of cherry confit. No doubt the mouthfeel is thinner in this vintage, but the wine has plenty more going on to keep your attention. I'm liking it. I went back to the bottle a few days after it had been opened and the wine was still going strong. Some 110,000 bottles were made." - Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Il Poggione Rosso di Montalcino 2017

R295.00 inc. VAT
"Ripe and racy to the core, Il Poggione's 2017 Rosso di Montalcino offers tons of richness and intensity from the very first taste. Sweet red cherry, wild flowers, spice and a kiss of new oak are all front and center. In this vintage, the Rosso is decidedly bold. It needs time in bottle to fully come together, for some of that oak to integrate, but it is undoubtedly a very delicious and alluring Rosso that captures the flamboyance of the year." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com

Sesti “Brunello di Montalcino” 2013

R995.00 inc. VAT
"Deep red. Sweet spices, ripe red cherry and Asian herbs on the vibrant nose. Then very clean and fresh in the mouth, offering raspberry, red cherry and coffee flavors that expand and linger nicely on the suave mouthfeel. There is a captivatingly complex, multilayered quality to this very deep, balanced, fleshy wine. One of the year’s best Brunellos." - Ian D'Agata, Antonio Galloni's Vinous

Sesti Rosso di Montalcino 2016

"The 2016 Rosso di Montalcino is a nicely balanced and forthcoming expression of Sangiovese executed in an easy and streamlined style. Bright cherry and red currant flavors would pair with your favorite pasta dishes. The wine closes with crisp and refreshing acidity." - Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
