Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils Grand Cru “Clos de Vougeot” 2019

R3,495.00 inc. VAT
"This is the first wine to display prominent oak and it's not subtle with plenty of menthol character sitting atop the aromas of dark currant, plum and warm earth. There is fine cut and punch to the moderately concentrated flavors that possess solid size and weight, all wrapped in a lingering finish that is perhaps a bit less youthfully austere than it typically is. While not super-dense, I like the balance and in any event, it has the more than sufficient stuffing to reward extended cellaring." - Allen Meadows, Burghound

Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils Gevrey-Chambertin 2019

R750.00 inc. VAT
Intense, perfumed bouquet with fruit aromas and an animal touch. Nice structure and lovely fleshiness. Good ageing potential. - Producer notes

Bouchard Père & Fils Premier Cru Nuits St. Georges “Les Cailles” 2019

R1,650.00 inc. VAT
"Here the expressive nose possesses the classic spiciness of a fine Les Cailles along with notes of poached plum, black cherry and enough earth to remind one that this is still a Nuits. The elegant and pure middle weight flavors display a sophisticated texture yet there is no lack of power and sleek muscularity on the lightly stony and balanced finale. Like several of the wines in the range, this needs to develop more depth that it should occur in time." -Allen Meadows, Burghound

Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils Premier Cru “Volnay Les Caillerets” Ancienne Cuvée Carnot 2019

R1,294.99 inc. VAT
"The 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets Ancienne Cuvée Carnot has turned out beautifully, wafting from the glass with a deep-pitched bouquet of wild berries and plums mingled with raw cocoa, peonies and subtle hints of spice. Medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, it's seamless and complete, with a deep core of fruit and velvety structuring tannins.." - William Kelley, The Wine Advocate

Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils Grand Cru “Le Corton” 2019

R2,250.00 inc. VAT
"An overtly floral nose reflects notes of rose petal, lavender, acacia and violet along with nuances of red and black fruit, earth and a whiff of forest floor. There is excellent intensity, size, weight and power to the attractively textured big-bodied flavors that brim with minerality on the caressing but punchy finale. This beautifully balanced effort is in the classic mold of this wine as it's very clearly built for the long haul and again, I would suggest not touching this wine for at least a decade and two decades would not be much of a surprise." - Allen Meadows, Burghound

Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils Grand Cru “Chambertin” 2017

R3,995.00 inc. VAT
Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils Chambertin Grand Cru 2017, "Deep and intense on the nose developing flavours of fruit and spice entwined with subtle oaky hints. Perfect marriage between grace and liveliness, strength and finesse. A superb wine displaying exceptional persistence and of great ageing potential. " - Winemaker's notes

Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils Grand Cru “Chambertin-Clos de Bèze” 2017

R5,499.99 inc. VAT
"From the same grape supplier as Chapelle-Chambertin. Here the colour is a little bit fresher and the nose too is not so uniformly black – more a dark red approach. This retains some elegance, with a classy full-bodied red fruit across the piece, some subtlety to the detail, ripe coulis de framboise, a faint appearance of acidity and very good length. A little limestone coolness behind. More discretion, which is to be welcomed." -Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils “Gevrey-Chambertin” 2018

R795.00 inc. VAT
"Bouchard Pére et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin 2018, There is a whiff of reduction but not so much as to materially suppress the brooding and deeply pitched sauvage and violet-inflected dark berry fruit-suffused nose. The rich, intense and subtly mineral-driven medium weight flavors conclude in a youthfully austere and impressively long finale. I particularly like the depth of this firmly structured effort that is going to require 8 to perhaps as much as 12 years of cellaring to arrive at its peak." - Allen Meadows, Burghound

Bouchard Père & Fils Premier Cru Nuits St. Georges “Les Cailles” 2018

R1,594.99 inc. VAT
"Revisited from bottle, the 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Cailles offers up aromas of cherries, plums, cassis and smoked meats that are still quite youthfully fruit-driven at this early stage. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and elegantly muscular, it's a rich but nicely balanced wine that's holding a lot in reserve." - William Kelley, The Wine Advocate

Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils Grand Cru “Echézeaux” 2018

R3,995.00 inc. VAT
" More discreet though still moderately generous wood treatment suffuses the aromas of baked dark berries where copious amounts of floral and spice influence add breadth. The oak does show up on the palate as well though it's not really enough to detract from the wonderfully textured medium weight plus flavors that are also blessed with an abundance of dry extract on the youthfully austere finale. This beauty is also clearly in need of extended cellaring." - Allen Meadows, Burghound

Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils Grand Cru “Chambertin-Clos de Bèze” 2018

R5,695.00 inc. VAT
"This too is notably ripe though the spicier and more floral-inflected dark berry fruit aromas are not jammy. While there isn't quite the same concentration there is markedly better vibrancy to the broad-shouldered flavors that possess a highly succulent mid-palate, all wrapped in a discreetly stony and sneaky long finish. The compact and built-to-age finish makes clear that plenty of patience will be beneficial." - Allen Meadows, Burghound
