Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2018

"Bright violet. Expressive, smoke-accented cherry, Chambord, licorice, succulent herb and exotic spice qualities on the nose. Weighty and broad on the palate, offering intense red fruit, floral pastille, allspice, cola and botanical herb flavors that turn sweeter as the wine opens up. The floral note gains strength with air and drives the impressively long, penetrating finish, which features polished tannins and resonating cherry and floral notes." - Josh Raynolds, Vinous

Keermont Terrasse 2019

R200.00 inc. VAT
Terrasse 2019 has a polished, light-yellow gold colour, with an explosive bouquet of lime, apple, pineapple, and peach with notes of vanilla, and butterscotch. The palate is rich, but fresh. A seemingly weightless entry comes quickly to life with ripe apricot, peach, and pear flavours complimented by cut grass, vanilla oak, and rich lees. This is followed by a lingering sweet-sour aftertaste. - Winemaker's notes

Keermont Amphitheatre 2015

R580.00 inc. VAT
"Bright crimson red in the glass, although more opaque than dark. This wine opens with dusty, ripe strawberry aromas complimented by hints of baked pudding, vanilla, and sweet citrus blossom. The palate is tight and effortless. There is a firm chalky tannin structure and an array of flavours from ripe plum and berries to more savoury herbs and oak tannin. The finish is long and succulent with lingering cherry flavours and grippy tannins." - Winemaker's notes

Keermont Syrah 2016

R265.01 inc. VAT
"The Keermont Syrah 2016 has a dark plummy red colour. It has an enchanting bouquet of lavender, cherries, cloves, and vanilla. The palate is elegant and soft with dark strawberry and cherry flavours and hints of citrus rind, herbs, and vanilla. The tannins are light, but firm and the wine has a long rich savoury finish." Winemaker's notes

Domaine Moreux-Corty Pouilly-Fumé Artisan La Loge aux Moines 2019

This is the flagship wine from a domaine whose history stretches back to the 17th century and which is being revitalised by the current (14th) generation of owners, brothers Arnaud and Julien. These are serious wines, an incredible expression of Pouilly-Fumé. The 4.5ha south-facing parcel of vines that make La Loge aux Moines (The Monks' Lodge) is planted on Kimmeridgian marl with a very high proportion of active limestone. Wines from this plot are characterised by great precision, minerality and structure. It's an austere style, with faintly smoky, herby aromas that hint at great concentration beneath. A delicious expression of Pouilly-Fumé, made with great finesse.- Amy Wislocki, Decanter

Domaine Philippe Alliet Chinon Coteau de Noire 2018

"Coteau de Noire is one of Alliet’s top vineyard sites, a steep parcel of limestone and clay. Aged one year in mix of old and new 500-liter barrels. Earthy and floral aromas and then lush, expansive and generous on the palate. Lots of plum and black cherry, understated, elegant tannins and lots of pepper and spice on the long finish. For such a full-bodied wine, it’s pretty gulpable. Open and ready now." - Jason Wilson, Vinous

BLANKbottle Saint Rand 2020

R280.00 inc. VAT
"I want to make a great Pinotage," says Pieter Walser and he's not far off with this example from 40-year-old bush vines in Darling. Racy, floral and early picked, it has lily and violet aromas, tangy raspberry and red cherry fruit and an elegant, tapering finish." Tim Atkin MW

Newton Johnson Walker Bay Pinot Noir 2020

R240.01 inc. VAT
"This is "only" the Walker Bay Pinot Noir from the Newton Johnsons, but it's pretty special at the price. Made from Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and Bot River fruit, it's wonderfully floral and sappy with some granitic tannins, subtle whole bunch notes and red cherry and pomegranate fruit. Wonderfully drinkable." - Tim Atkin MW

Rall Cinsault 2020

"In this 2020 vintage, 60% of the fruit comes from Darling old vines and 40% from a bushvine vineyard in the Swartland. Both vineyards are grown on iron rich clay. Semi-carbonic fermentation occurs naturally using 100% whole bunches. The 2020 is light and fresh with lively acidity, crunchy tannins and loads of bright red fruit." - Winemaker's notes

Newton Johnson Family Vineyards Chardonnay 2017

R365.01 inc. VAT
Newton Johnson Family Vineyards Chardonnay 2017, "Abundant layers of complex flavour growing increasingly luminescent and steely in the glass. Lucid ripe citrus and white peach are inured with ornate spices and lime zest . The fleshiness of the wine sways and eases the razor sharp purity of the Granite soil influence. The brittle crunch in the structure hems in the lush texture, with an elongated thread of grape acid resonating in the finish." Winemaker's notes

Champagne Salon Blanc de Blancs Le Mesnil Brut 1999

"A very pale yellow with barely green hints and a lively nose but still discreet, 1999 Salon, with its clear immediate taste, has that juvenile grace that captures the palate, itself straight, firm and textured. A quite natural sophistication that is a gift and persists just like the creamy bubbles. Brioche, white bread, white blossom, white fruit and bitter almond flavours are still developing. The middle palate and aftertaste are crystalline and it has a lingering finish with hints of citrus. Ten years is all it has taken the 1999 Salon to reach dazzling maturity. Decades will follow." - Winemaker's notes

Vega-Sicilia Alión Ribera del Duero Cosecha 2015 3L

R6,995.00 inc. VAT
Produced with 100% Tinto Fino or Tempranillo grapes in a modern and fruit-forward style with generous oak, the 2015 Alión is juicy and intense, cropped from a warm and dry year that delivered a 15% alcohol red that is voluptuous and hedonistic. It matured for 12 to 14 months in oak barrels, mostly French and mostly new. At first I found it quite ripe, with black rather than red fruit, a little earthy and with a touch of licorice and ink. The palate reveals abundant, slightly dusty tannins without the quality they had in 2014; it's a little dry on the finish, a riper and more powerful vintage of Alión. The nose improved tremendously with time in the glass as it opened up, but the tannins remained quite present. It might need a little more time in bottle to polish those edges. 230,730 bottles and some larger formats where produced. It was bottled in June 2017. - Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate

Château Tertre Roteboeuf St-Émilion Grand Cru 2007 Magnum

R8,795.00 inc. VAT
"Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 2007 Bordeaux tasting. The 2007 Le Tertre-Rôteboeuf has an irresistible bouquet with plush red and black fruit, crème de cassis and vanilla pod, almost Burgundian in style and billowing with aeration in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied and plush with dark plum, macerated red cherries and strawberry. But this is all about that velvety texture and the weight and concentration on the finish. Surely this is Tertre-Rôteboeuf? It is! Perhaps the most delicious wine of the vintage." - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate

Domaine de Montille Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2018

"A densely fruited nose speaks of red and dark currant aromas that are laced with warm earth hints. There is better vibrancy and freshness to the solidly concentrated middle weight flavors that conclude in a firm, rustic and youthfully austere finale. This excellent effort is a big and built-to-age Bourgogne." - Allen Meadows, Burghound

Domaine Trapet Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin “Ostrea” 2018

R1,250.00 inc. VAT
"The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Ostrea is showing beautifully, unwinding in the glass with a deeper-pitched bouquet of cassis, dark berry fruit, baking chocolate, rich soil tones and warm spices. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and mineral, this has a more structured, tensile profile than the Domaine's regular Gevrey, as well as greater reserves of tightly wound fruit. As readers will remember, this cuvée derives from old vines in the commune of Brochon."- William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Domaine Michel Lafarge Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Aigrots Blanc 2018

"A more floral-infused nose freely offers up its aromas of very fresh white-fleshed fruit, citrus zest and a touch of mineral reduction. The sleek, intense and even stonier middle weight flavors are actually not quite as concentrated though they are a bit finer on the clean, dry and relatively tightly wound finish. This balanced and attractive effort should reward up to a decade of cellaring." - Allen Meadows, Burghound

Lafarge-Vial Côte de Brouilly 2019 Magnum

R1,250.00 inc. VAT
“Domaine Lafarge-Vial Côte de Brouilly 2019 Magnum, A more restrained nose that features notes of ripe cherry, dark raspberry and subtle earth and spice wisps with a floral top note. There is more size, weight and power to the bigger-bodied flavors that culminate in a dusty, serious and manifestly built-to-age finale that exhibits excellent persistence. This too is terrific and worth your interest.” – Allen Meadows’, Burghound

Lafarge-Vial Fleurie La Joie du Palais 2019 Magnum

R1,250.00 inc. VAT
"Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie "Joie de Palais" 2019 Magnum, This too is attractively elegant and admirably pure with its even more floral suffused aromas of essence of dark berries that are laced with discreet spice wisps. There is fine volume and delineation to the vibrant and intensely mineral-driven medium-weight flavors that firm up as the strikingly long finish sits on the palate. Even so, I suspect that this will be approachable after 3 to 4 years if you enjoy your Bojo on the younger side." - Allen Meadows, Burghound

Domaine Lafarge-Vial Chiroubles 2019

R550.00 inc. VAT
"Domaine Lafarge-Vial Chiroubles 2019, Peppery liqueur-like aromas of plum and dark berries precede the sleekly textured, delicious and vibrant middle weight flavors that conclude in a delineated, balanced and impressively complex finale. This possesses fine quality and development potential."- Allen Meadows, Burghound

Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses 2018

R1,365.00 inc. VAT
Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses 2018, "This is one of the most elegant wines in the range with its cool and admirably airy and pure aromas of citrus zest, oyster shell, seashore and gentle wood nuances. The mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors combines volume with refinement while delivering excellent length on the balanced, stony and markedly dry finale. This is not quite as concentrated or complex as the best here but as it usually is, it's a marvelous wine of refinement and punch."- Allen Meadows, Burghound

Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2018

R1,695.00 inc. VAT
Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2018, "Once again, the nose is both fresh and ripe and while it's not quite as elegant and airy as the Côte Bouguerots there is every bit as much classic Chablis character along with a hint of honey. There is a really lovely mouthfeel to the sappy large-bodied flavors thanks to the copious quantity of dry extract that also serves to buffer the firm acid spine on the powerful, punchy and beautifully persistent finale. Like several of the wines in the range, this would benefit substantially from developing more depth though it should be able to do just that over time."- Allen Meadows, Burghound

Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Premier Cru Vaulorent 2018

R995.00 inc. VAT
Domaine William Fevre Chablis Premier Cru “Vaulorent” 2018, "Not surprisingly this is aromatically similar to the Fourchaume though here there is a whiff of wood in evidence. The slightly sleeker and finer medium-bodied flavors possess good power and punch while remaining refined and composed on the impressively long and well-balanced finale." - Allen Meadows, Burghound
