Bodegas Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia Macán 2015

R1,150.00 inc. VAT
"The current vintage of the first wine is the 2015 Macán, fermented in oak vats and matured in new French oak barrels for 12 months, followed by a further five months in oak vats and kept in bottle for almost three years before it's released. 2015 was a warm and dry year, and the wine feels riper when tasted next to the 2016 Macán Clásico, which comes from a very different year. The use of foudres helps to give the wine length and elegance—a good tool to fine-tune warmer vintages like this one. This is stylistically different from 2016, with darker fruit and an earthy touch. It's powerful, with structure and plenty of tannin, a dense wine, with concentration to get polished in bottle. 74,465 bottle, 2,563 magnums and some larger formats produced. It was bottled in May 2017." - Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate

Bodegas Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia Macán Clásico 2016

R695.00 inc. VAT
In 2016, they fermented the wine in stainless steel and reduced the number of new barrels to 50%, while 5% of the barrels were produced with American oak at the Vega Sicilia cooperage. The new winery was 100% ready and now has much better facilities. The élevage lasted 12 months, and this has contained ripeness and integrated oak. The year had freshness and balance and helped to produce lighter and more expressive wines, like this one. This has to be one of the finest vintages for this cuvée.

Champagne Lanson “Black Label” Brut Non-Vintage Magnum

R1,750.00 inc. VAT
"Light gold. Aromas of nectarine, pear and lemon curd, with subtle ginger, lees and floral accents. Sappy orchard and citrus fruit flavors are given spine by tangy acidity and pick up spiciness and a chalky nuance with air. Powerful yet lithe and focused, finishing with very good clarity and length and lingering spiciness.” – Josh Raynolds, Antonio Galloni’s Vinous

Champagne Lanson “Clos Lanson” Blanc de Blancs Brut 2006

R3,100.00 inc. VAT
"The 2006 Clos Lanson is bright, focused and exceptionally pure. Veins of underlying acidity and chalkiness give the 2006 its super-distinctive, saline-driven personality. Lemon peel, white flowers, chalk and white pepper develop in the glass, adding further dimensions of nuance. With time in the glass, the 2006 acquires lovely textural brilliance, but it remains tense, crystalline and absolutely impeccable in its purity. The aromatics could use a bit more finesse and freshness, but otherwise this is a solid debut. Clos Lanson is fermented entirely in barrel, but the oak is very nicely integrated. Disgorged December, 2014." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Champagne Lanson “Clos Lanson” Blanc de Blancs Brut 2007

R3,510.00 inc. VAT
"Disgorged in July 2016 with only three grams per liter dosage, the 2007 Brut Blanc de Blancs Clos Lanson is showing very well indeed, unwinding in the glass with notes of dried white flowers, citrus oil, toasted brioche, oyster shell and smoke. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and vibrant, with a racy spine of acidity, good concentration and chalky structuring extract. This is quite a tightly knit, tensile wine, despite the warm mesoclimate and two years on cork, which suggests it will enjoy a long future" - William Kelley, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Champagne Lanson “Gold Label” Brut Vintage Magnum 2005

R2,200.00 inc. VAT
"Yellow-golden in color, the 2005 Gold Label Vintage Brut has a deep, ripe and vinous nose. Rich, ripe and full on the palate, with finesse, elegance and a good, pretty long finish, this is a complex cuvée that is built more on maturity than freshness this year." - Stephan Reinhardt, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Champagne Lanson “Le Vintage” Brut 2009

R1,250.00 inc. VAT
"Disgorged in February 2017, Lanson's 2009 Brut Vintage Gold Label is more immediate than its 2008 predecessor, bursting from the glass with notes of citrus oil, green apples, fresh peach and wheat toast. Medium to full-bodied, pillowy and charming, it's bright and penetrating, but also comparatively giving and approachable for a young-vintage Lanson." - William Kelly, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Champagne Lanson “Clos Lanson” Blanc de Blancs Brut 2006 Magnum

R6,560.00 inc. VAT
"From the immured one-hectare vineyard on the top of the hill, which also harbors the cellar of Champagne Lanson that dates back into the 18th century, the 2006 Clos Lanson is 100% first press Chardonnay from a very fine, chalky soil. It was fermented and aged in Argonne oak until spring 2007 (no malolactic fermentation), and disgorged after seven and a half years on the lees in December 2014 as Brut Nature with a dosage of three grams per liter. This bright yellow-golden colored prestige Champagne offers a brilliant nose of pure and ripe Chardonnay, along with delicate chalky flavors. Full and round on the palate, with a nice freshness and purity, this is a very elegant and well-balanced Blanc de Blancs. it has an aromatic as well as clear, fresh and mineral finish. This very first release has a very good length and characteristic mineral taste, with iodine notes along with ripe fruit and vanilla brioche flavors in the finish. This is a great new entry in the Lanson portfolio and it will improve with age" - Stephan Reinhardt, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Champagne Lanson White Label Sec Non-Vintage

R765.00 inc. VAT
"Pale gold. Spicy pear, melon and white peach scents and flavors are lifted by a note of tangerine. Emphatically fruity, showing good depth and energy for its sweetness. Closes smooth and long, with a touch of ginger adding bite. Spicy Asian dishes or strong cheeses would be fantastic with this plush Champagne." - Josh Raynolds, Antonio Galloni's Vinous

Champagne Pol Roger Brut Vintage 2012

R1,305.01 inc. VAT
"Disgorged in October 2018, the 2012 Brut Vintage offers up aromas of smoky peach, apples, pastry cream, white flowers and mandarin. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, broad and powerful, with more volume and amplitude than its blanc de blancs counterpart, revealing racy balancing acids, an already refined mousse and the impressive concentration that typifies this low-yielding vintage. It's a classic blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay that saw seven grams per liter dosage." William Kelley

Champagne Pol Roger Rich Demi-Sec Non-Vintage

R895.00 inc. VAT
"Light, bright yellow. Ripe pear and nectarine on the fragrant nose, with hints of lemon curd, honey and dried fig adding complexity. Shows very good depth and a supple texture, with sweet poached pear and pit fruit nectar flavors sharpened by a minerally element. Closes silky, broad and gently sweet, with a suave floral quality coming up late. This would make a fantastic pairing with blue cheeses." - Josh Raynolds, Antonio Galloni's Vinous.com

Champagne Vilmart & Cie “Grand Cellier” Premier Cru Brut Magnum Non-Vintage

R1,860.36 inc. VAT
"The NV Brut Cuvee Grand Cellier possesses gorgeous intensity in its piercing notes of lemon, white flowers and spices. Smoky, floral notes continue to emerge as the wine shows off its class and sheer energy. This is a great showing from the Grand Cellier. The Grand Cellier is 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir. This release is based on 2008, with reserve wines from 2007 and 2006. The fruit is sourced from Les Hautes Greves and Les Basses Greves, both in Rilly la Montagne. Dosage is 10 grams per liter. Disgorged May 2011. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2015. Vilmart is one of Champagne’s top estates. Proprietor Laurent Champs can be counted on for wines of extraordinary class and elegance. Champagne Vilmart et Cie “Coeur de Cuvée” Brut 2011

R1,625.00 inc. VAT
"The 2011 Brut Coeur de Cuvée has put on a bit of weight since I tasted it last, and that is not a bad thing at all for a year in which the wines are a bit light. Tangerine oil, marzipan, pastry, lemon confit and a touch of sweet oak give the 2011 tons of complexity. Beautifully perfumed and nuanced, the 2011 is once again positively stellar." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com.

Champagne Vilmart et Cie “Grand Cellier D’Or” 2014

R995.00 inc. VAT
"The 2014 Brut Grand Cellier d'Or is one of the best vintages of this wine I can remember tasting. Bright, explosive and full of energy, the 2014 captures a striking balance of depth and vibrancy. All the elements meld together in a beautifully sculpted Champagne loaded with character. The 2014 is even more impressive today than it was when I tasted it earlier in the year" - Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com

Château Raymond-Lafon Sauternes 2011

R825.00 inc. VAT
"Captivating aromas of fresh white flowers, acacia honey, guava and marmaladey botrytis. Smooth and seamless in the mouth, displaying knockout flavors of pineapple, pomelo (rather than grapefruit, which has an element of bitterness that is absent in this wine), English custard and honeyed mango. The finish is extremely long, very sweet and dense, but this come across as a politely styled, very refined version of Raymond-Lafon owing to its harmonious acidity. This outstanding wine is the result of six different tries occurring between September 19 and October 5, but only the middle four went into the grand vin, with the first and last pickings used for the estate's second wine."- Ian D'Agata, Vinous

Clos de Tart Grand Cru 2017

'A much more floral-inflected nose is equally fresh and ripe with a broader range of spice elements adding breadth to the pretty red and blue pinot fruit aromas that are trimmed in noticeable if not invasive wood. The caressing and wonderfully vibrant medium-bodied flavors possess better mid-palate density before concluding in a lingering, balanced and much more complex finale. I like the focused drive of the finish; indeed this could aptly be described as a wine that delivers power without weight. I would further note that the 2017 is a relatively elegant example and, like the La Forge, a wine that could be approached on the earlier side, which is to say after 7 to 8 years." - Allen Meadows, Burghound

Colmant Methode Cap Classique Blanc de Blancs Non-Vintage

R299.00 inc. VAT

Colmant Methode Cap Classique Brut Reserve Non-Vintage

R245.00 inc. VAT
"Produced before the arrival of sparkling wine guru, Paul Gerber, earlier this year, the Colmant Brut Reserve proves that he has good raw material to work with. Based on the 2017 vintage, but with some raw material, it's youthful, dry and well balanced with lovely restraint and focus." - Tim Atkin MW, South African Special Report
