Le Clos du Caillou Châteauneuf-du-Pape “La Réserve” Rouge 2018

"Hints of cedar and vanilla appear on the nose of the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape La Reserve, which is aged in demi-muids (20% new), adding a human-derived aspect to the mouthwatering notes of cherries and raspberries. It's full-bodied, silky and even almost lacy in texture, delivering intense pleasure on the palate without excess weight, then lingering on the finish, where the red-fruit flavors come to the fore, practically vibrating in intensity. Because of the effects of mildew on the Grenache, this vintage is just over 50% Mourvèdre."- Joe Czerwinski Wine Advocate

Le Clos du Caillou Châteauneuf-du-Pape “Le Tradition” Rouge 2018

R595.00 inc. VAT
"The 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Le Caillou Le Tradition is a spicy, leather and cherry-scented wine produced from a combination of estate and purchased fruit (all certified organic). It's medium to full-bodied, smooth and silky, with ample charm, but no great depth or richness. Drink it over the next 5–7 years." Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate

Le Clos du Caillou Chateauneuf-du-Pape “Les Quartz” 2017

R960.01 inc. VAT
"The 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Quartz features scents of black olives and black cherries on the nose. It's a full-bodied, dense, tightly packed wine that will need time to fully express itself—is it a modern-day 2005? Ample cherry and stone fruit appear on the long, intense finish, confirming the terrific potential this wine possesses." - Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Le Clos du Caillou Châteauneuf-du-Pape “Les Safres” Rouge 2018

R695.00 inc. VAT
"Deep bright-hued red. Sexy, spice-accented aromas of ripe red berries and potpourri are lent vivacity by a smoky mineral element. Sweet, palate-coating raspberry, cherry preserve, spicecake and floral pastille flavors show a suave blend of depth and energy. Displays fine delineation and finishes with superb clarity and emphatic, red-fruit-driven persistence." Josh Raynolds, Vinous

Le Clos du Caillou Côtes du Rhône “La Réserve” Blanc 2018

R494.99 inc. VAT
"This wine has a beautiful Naples yellow color with Nanking reflections. The nose has aromas of complex fruits of quince, candied peach, banana liquor, marked by notes of elderberry flowers. The mouth has a beautiful suavity with aromas of liquorice and blood orange jam. A gourmet wine made for cellaring." - Producer Note

Le Clos du Caillou Côtes du Rhône “Le Bouquet des Garrigues” Blanc 2018

R295.00 inc. VAT
"The 2017 Cotes du Rhone Le Bouquet des Garrigues Blanc is crisper and more focused than the basic Le Caillou bottling. Boasting racy lime aromas and flavors, it's tonic and zesty on the long finish. A blend of Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Bourboulenc and Viognier, it should drink well for a couple of years." - Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Le Clos du Caillou Côtes-du-Rhône “La Réserve” Blanc 2019

R565.00 inc. VAT
"The 100% Clairette Rose 2019 Cotes du Rhone La Reserve Blanc was vinified in tank, then aged in a mix of new demi-muids (55%) and stainless steel (45%). Hints of pencil shavings accent peach and lime notes on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is smooth and silky, offering no obstacles to pure enjoyment on the way to a long, zesty finish. I wouldn't hesitate to put this up against many white Châteauneufs." - Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate

Le Clos du Caillou Côtes-du-Rhône “Le Bouquet des Garrigues” Blanc 2019

R325.00 inc. VAT
"The 2019 Cotes du Rhone Le Bouquet des Garrigues Blanc is a tank-fermented and aged blend of 40% Clairette, 30% Grenache Blanc and 15% each Roussanne and Viognier. It's more lime-like and linear than the le Caillou bottling, reflecting the different cépages as well as the terroir. Hints of green peach reveal the ripeness of the vintage while retaining a zesty quality. It's medium to full-bodied, with a silky feel and terrific length." - Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate

"Slightly bigger and more structured than the "Garrigues" bottling, the 2018 Cotes du Rhone Les Quartz boasts hints of bay leaf and violets accenting cherry and leather notes. Full-bodied and admirably concentrated, framed by silky tannins, this blend of Grenache and Syrah finishes long and savory." Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate

Le Clos du Caillou Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge “Le Caillou” 2019

R250.00 inc. VAT
More sedate than the Esprit Nature (and including some non-estate fruit), the 2019 Cotes du Rhone Le Caillou is still certified organic. Hints of leather and dried spices accent dark berries on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is smooth and supple, ending on hints of earth and modest tannins.
