Tempus white blend 2022

Tempus 2022

Dear Reader,

For only the second time, we are releasing Tempus seperately to the allocation campaign of Sadie Family Wines we run every year. The wine does not make up part of the estate wines of Columella and Palladius and range of Ouwingerdreeks. It stands alone, a wine made in partnership between Great Domaines and Sadie Family Wines.

The 2023 release of Tempus is from the 2022 vintage and is a white blend, ”of many newly planted white varietal vineyards across several vineyards”, Eben Sadie shared with us. He goes on to add that he and his team ”wanted to produce something that exhibits some of the freshness, firm tannins, and phenolics we get from these vineyards, mainly the vineyards of Paardeberg Mountain.”

What is the composition of the blend, you may be wondering? ”The grapes are too many to mention, the wine is a textural journey”, is all that Eben revealed and that is good enough for us!

A little over 650 bottles were produced. We have kept a very small portion aside to share on offer here today. As such, availability is very limited.

The Tempus 2022 white blend was aged in the same clay amphora we have sitting in the Sadie Family cellar, spending ten months on the fermentation lees. On the nose, the wine displays complex stone fruit aromas, lime rind and other citrus notes. The mouthfeel is textured and the wine boasts wonderful balance, with a sumptuous saline finish. The wine is drinking beautifully now, but we suggest decanting it before serving. We also recommend you cellar a few bottles as it will age very well.
