Chateau Musar Hochar Père et Fils 2017

R395.00 inc. VAT
"The 2017 Hochar is powerful and dense in the glass. Ripe flavors and incisive tannins give the 2017 much of its brooding personality. Readers should plan on opening the 2017 at least an hour or two in advance, as the tannins are rather grainy at the outset. With time ripe black cherry, spice, leather and licorice flavors emerge nicely. The blend is 55% Cinsault, 35% Grenache and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Château Musar White 2012

R675.00 inc. VAT
Château Musar White 2012, "Fine lemon-yellow, bright and still fresh-looking but also showing some reassuring maturity; dry honey on the nose, dry spices with a controlled richness of fruit on the palate that reminds me of Ygrec: complex and dry with sweetness in its DNA before natural acidity lifts the slightly exotic aftertaste on the finish; lanolin smooth in texture but not an easy wine to assess and not meant to be at this stage, gains familiarity after a while, but the mystery of young white Musar remains for another day." - Steven Spurrier

Château Musar Red 2000

R795.00 inc. VAT
Château Musar Red 2000 "When tasted in early November 1999, the wines were tannic, concentrated and powerful, but very well balanced. Now at 20 years after the vintage, the 2000 holds on to its primary fruit whilst really starting to reveal the classic Musar identity, balancing out the characteristic sweet spice and desiccated fruit notes with more evolved elements of leather, tar, tobacco and a hint of game. These complex aromas and flavours are lifted with a fresh lick of acidity that will ensure the wine will continue to age gracefully for years to come." - Winemaker's notes

Château Musar Red 2001

R795.00 inc. VAT
"The 2001 Château Musar is drinking beautifully right now, with notes of tobacco and flint complementing the dark berry aromas and flavors and polished tannins. Although the 2001 turns slightly austere on the long finish, it strikes me as a fruitier less gamey than usual Musar that is drinking perfectly now. "- Ian D'Agata, Vinous

Château Musar Red 1997

R1,200.00 inc. VAT
Château Musar Red 1997 "A rich, warm colour, now paling towards the rim, with a smoky nose full of spices and fruits. On the palate there are mixed berry fruits – cherries, redcurrants, pomegranates and Christmas spices of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Good acidity with good tannin levels results in a wine of classic structure with long ageing potential." - Winemaker's notes
