Anwilka Red Blend 2019

R480.00 inc. VAT
"The 2019 Anwilka is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon with 30% Syrah. The nose opens with subtle Syrah notes of red peppercorn and smoked meats before moving to dusty red and black fruit aromas. Full-bodied, layered and fresh, the palate reveals the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon, with soft herbal essences, bitter black tea and delicate olive notes. Graphite and pencil shavings follow across the mid-palate. The wine continues to unwind over the long lingering, mineral-laced, food-friendly finish. This rested for 20 months in all French oak, 50% of which was new, before being bottled." - Anthony Mueller, The Wine Advocate

Anwilka Red Blend 2018

R480.00 inc. VAT
"The 2018 Anwilka offers a delightful refinement and finesse, wafting with layers of dusty red fruit, oak and elegant red flowers. Medium to full-bodied, the palate provides balanced tannins with lively acidity that lingers across the mid-palate through the ever-evolving finish without showing any greenness. Give it a try." - Anthony Mueller, The Wine Advocate

Anwilka Red Blend 2016

R480.00 inc. VAT
"Bursting from the glass, the 2016 Anwilka has elegant oak tones that play with a juicy fruit structure. Dark cherry, blackberry and plums all dance with mocha tones and oak spices that integrate seamlessly together. The wine is full-bodied on the palate, with a ripe attack of bold, concentrated fruit and a balanced structure with grippy tannins that hang on the gumline, leaving flavors of bitter dark chocolate and coffee bean. Ending with a long, drawn-out finish, it continues to evolve on the palate long after the wine has left the mouth. This is a serious wine for collectors." - Anthony Mueller, The Wine Advocate

Anwilka Red Blend 2014

R625.00 inc. VAT
"Bright and deep ruby in appearance. An upfront nose displays aromas of red fruit and cherries with toasted spices. The palate is fresh and vibrant on entry with a balanced acidity, supple tannins and elegant texture." - Winemaker's notes

Anwilka Red Blend 2013

R685.00 inc. VAT
"The 2013 Anwilka is a blend of 62% Syrah, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Petit Verdot. It has an attractive raspberry coulis and crushed strawberry bouquet with well-integrated oak. The palate is smooth on the entry with supple red berry fruit laced with bay leaf and clove, leading to a very composed finish that seems more elegant and refined than previous vintages. Bon vin!" - Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate

Anwilka Red Blend 2012

R710.00 inc. VAT
"The 2012 Anwilka is a blend of 87% Shiraz and 13% Cabernet Sauvignon matured in 50% new oak. It has a very pure and well defined bouquet with ebullient blackberry and cedar scents, quite strict at the moment but nicely focused and integrated with the wood. The palate is well balanced with supple tannin, very well judged acidity, and there is a pleasant chewiness in the mouth with rosemary and sage towards the finish. This is a well crafted Anwilka that will benefit from 2-3 years in bottle." - Anthony Mueller, The Wine Advocate

Anwilka Red Blend 2006

R740.00 inc. VAT
"Distinctive freshness and elegance, with ample, mouthfilling blackcurrant fruit and cinnamon flavours. Ripe tannins, in perfect balance with fruit, acid and alcohol, impart sufficient structure and supple texture. Good length, with a positively clean and flavourful finish." - Winemaker's notes

San Román Bodegas Prima 2020

R295.00 inc. VAT
"The 2020 Prima used to be the lightest and most approachable of the reds from San Román until the birth of the varietal Garnacha. It was produced with Tinta de Toro and 15% Garnacha and other varieties with 14.5% alcohol and mellow acidity, cropped from a cooler year of lighter and fresher wines. This had a soft vinification with short macerations and an élevage in 3,000- and 4,000-liter oak foudres and 500-liter barrels for 14 months, a regimen that seems to work quite well with the already powerful wines from the region, making them more approachable and better balanced. Delicious. 171,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2022." - Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate

Danie Junior Red Blend 2021

R144.99 inc. VAT
Interesting herbaceous profile, showing earthy, crushed leaf components and even agave, but without any green, bitter elements. The palate is broad, with red fruited accessibility, and the property’s signature structure and firm tannins. Medium bodied.

BLANKbottle The Bomb 2021

R390.00 inc. VAT
"This wine started way back - I bottled a straight 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon from a friend’s farm. The wine was big, but I loved it. After bottling, the Department of Agriculture came back with the final analysis. An alcohol of 16.14% - GOODNESS?! I stacked the wine in the back of the warehouse, not sure what to do with it. I then had a tasting at the Hinterhofkabuff with a German guy called Martin Baulmann, who subsequently became my agent in Germany. We tasted all my wines and at the end he asked me if I had something big for him to taste. "How do you mean; BIG?", I asked. "In colour, extraction, tannin?..."." Like in 15% alcohol...", he replied. "I think I have something even better for you" I said. So I opened a still unlabelled bottle and poured him a glass of what I was planning to name Midnight Call. He loved it and wanted to buy everything. For those of you who do not know Martin: He has a big frame, laughs loudly, and lives large. So afterwards I sat in the Hinterhofkabuff drinking a glass, thinking of this very big guy that loved this very loud wine. It seemed natural to change the name to THE BOMB." Winemaker's notes

BLANKbottle Engelesig 2021

R390.00 inc. VAT
"This is a new wine, it is a Cab/Cab Franc from a little farm called Angles view, Helderberg - home to singer song writer Lesley Rae Dowling." -Winemaker's notes

J.L. Chave Sélection Côtes-du-Rhône “Mon Coeur” 2021

R295.00 inc. VAT
"A year-in, year-out smoking value as well as a great bottle of wine, the 2021 Côtes du Rhône Mon Coeur checks in as equal parts Grenache and Syrah brought up in neutral oak. Its vivid ruby hue is followed by a medium-bodied, elegant, lively red offering pretty red and black berry fruits, some spring flowers, peppery herbs, and gamey nuances, fine tannins, and nicely integrated acidity. Coming from a cooler year, it still brings plenty of richness and depth and is well worth seeking out." - Jeb Dunnuck

Château Lafleur Grand Village Blanc 2020

R450.00 inc. VAT
"A serious, more obviously structured effort than the suave 2019, the 2020 Grand Village offers up a smoky, dense bouquet with aromas of cherries, spices, flowers, lead pencil and dark wild berries. Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with rich, powdery tannins and a vibrant core of fruit, it concludes with an impressively long finish and superb controlled power. It clearly needs time to chill out." - Yohan Castaing, The Wine Advocate

Domaine Lafarge-Vial Côte de Brouilly 2021

R724.99 inc. VAT
Domaine Lafarge-Vial Côte de Brouilly 2021, "Pretty aromas include those of raspberry, cherry, earth and a suggestion of crushed fennel. This isn't quite as dense but I very much like the sense of energy to the medium weight flavors that possess slightly better depth, though like the Joie du Palais, the balance isn't perfect." - Allen Meadows', Burghound

R355.01 inc. VAT
"Released a year later than the rest of the Rall reds to allow the tannins to integrate, this is a serious, structured assemblage of Syrah with 13% Grenache, 7% Carignan and 2% Cinsault. Sappy and grippy, it marries blackberry and damson fruit flavours with understated oak spices and a sturdy, age-worthy finish." - Tim Atkin MW

BLANKbottle “Retirement @ 65” 2022

"Retirement @ 65? Let's hope that's not in Pieter Walser's plans, so that he can go on making wines like this Darling assemblage of Cinsault with 44% Syrah. Fermented with around 50% whole bunches, this is "almost a field blend", with plum, bramble and red berry fruit, lots of zip and minerality and sinewy tannins." - Tim Atkin MW

Samaritaan 2019 – SOLD OUT

The wine is a red blend of three Helderberg components. The Merlot is a block of old bush vines growing next to Francois’ homestead, just on the other side of the R44 to that of the Helderberg. The Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a block planted on a granitic outcrop which, according to Francois, is very unique for the Helderberg. Up Cordoba Road, through Taaibosch, to a vantage point is the the third component which is Cabernet Franc.
