We kick off our season of new vintage releases from our South African great domaines in June. Here is a summary of all important dates to mark your calendar with. Included in these are some events we will also be hosting, so if you would like to find out more or book your spot straight away, now is your chance.

Dear Reader,

The second half of the year is always a busy one with our family of South African producers releasing their new vintages. It’s also a lot to look forward to and we thought we would break the schedule down for you so you can start planning accordingly.

Keermont Vineyards Syrah vertical: 2011-2016
Thursday 9 June (event)

A vertical tasting of vintages 2011-2016 of the estate-grown Syrah from Alex Starey and his team at Keermont Vineyards. This will be hosted at Great Domaines in the evening of Thursday 9 June and the tasting presented by Alex. Limited to 24 people.

Kaapzicht’s Steytler new vintage release dinner
Wednesday 15 June (release & event)

An exclusive evening hosted by Danie Steytler Junior for the release of the Steytler family’s 2020 vintage of their three flagship estate red wines and 2021 vintage of their old vine single site Chenin blanc, ”The 1947”. This dinner will be held at Thathu Restaurant in Illovo, Johannesburg.

Alheit Vineyards new vintage release
Tuesday 21 June (release)

This is the official nationwide release date for Chris and Suzaan Alheit’s 2021 vintage of Cape heritage white wines. The farm conducts their allocations to their private members list from 1-10 June. The wines will be available from Great Domaines from the 21st of June.

Rall Wines new vintage release
Thursday 14 July (release)

This is the official nationwide release date for Donovan Rall’s wines. There are two new wines and the anticipation is charged to the max.

Colmant Absolu NV fourth edition release
Thursday 28 July (release)

Colmant Cap Classique officially releases its fourth edition of the Absolu zero dosage on the 28th of July. In 2021, the third edition was awarded by Tim Atkin MW as his ”Overall Sparkling Wine of the Year”.
The occasion will take the form of an annual showcasing (in Johannesburg) for Colmant where the entire range is shared and spoken about with particular emphasis on some exciting developments with their flagship Brut Reserve non-vintage.

David & Nadia new vintage release
Thursday 4 August (release)

David and Nadia Sadie’s single vineyard Chenin blancs have become South Africa’s very own ”Grand Cru white wines”. On the 4th of August the 2021 vintages will offically be released along with their four flagship wines: Chenin blanc, Aristargos, Grenache noir and Elpidios.

Savage Wines new vintage release
Thursday 1 September (release)

Duncan Savage’s wines never hang around for very long. On the 1st of September, the 2020 Red and 2021 White, together with Duncan’s single site wines will be officially released nationwide.

Tempus new vintage release
Mid - October (release)

The 2021 vintage of Tempus (the wine that Great Domaines makes in partnership with Sadie Family Wines) will only be revealed in the middle of October. Production is limited to just one tank and averages out to just 600 bottles every vintage.

Damascene & Moya Meaker new vintage release
October (release)

The date in October will be confirmed in due course for the new vintage release of Moya Meaker and Damascene.

Newton Johnson Vineyards new vintage release
November (release)

The date in November will be confirmed in due course for the new vintage release of Newton Johnson’s Family Vineyard wines and single vineyard Pinot noirs.
