Consistently on the Rise

Stellenbosch is very much South Africa’s flagship winegrowing region, home to so many of the country’s most iconic names. So when you consider that Keermont Vineyards was founded as recently as in 2003, there is a lot to be said of what winemaker Alex Starey and his team have accomplished since then.

”I have again chosen my favourite producers, rather than parroted the opinions of others. Track records can be overrated in my view. Some of my classified producers are still comparatively young operations”
– Tim Atkin MW, 2022 South Africa Special Report

One such producer Tim Atkin is referring to is Keermont Vineyards, classifed by the British Master of Wine as a Second Growth. The Stellenbosch estate has just released their latest vintage of Single Vineyard Series wines and the flagship Amphitheatre red.

Listed below are the four Single Vineyard wines, followed by the Amphitheatre.
We have also been allocated a limited number of magnums for all wines.
Please speak to your account manager about pricing and availability. Lastly, please note that delivery of your order will take place from next week. The team at Keermont is carefully putting the final touches to our consignment before sending it up to Johannesburg.

A STELLENBOSCH
RED WINE ICON IN THE MAKING

Now in its second vintage, the Keermont Amphitheatre is growing in stature. The 2016 growing season wasn’t exactly easy for the team with below average levels of rainfall and then very warm temperatures over December which resulted in an earlier than normal harvest to ensure maximum levels of freshness in the grapes.

The final blend is made up of 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Cabernet Franc, 19% Merlot, 16% Malbec and 8% Petit Verdot.

The wine spent 20 months maturing in first, second and third-fill French barriques. 7,500 bottles and 107 magnums spent a further five years in winery cellar before being released.
