"The 2015 Único Tinto has been seen before but only as a barrel sample in Porto last summer. This is the first look in bottle (and in the U.S.). It is a field blend from a single plot of Conceito's typical vineyard (90-year-old vines, 450 meters in altitude) aged for 22 months in French oak barrels (60% new, 40% second use). The wood is in charge here for the moment, the wine showing mostly vanilla and cream up front. Underneath, there is excellent concentration for this elegant vintage. Relatively speaking, I missed the finesse and subtly of the regular Estate red from Conceito (reviewed this issue), but that's relative. This still has a rather fresh feel and an elegant demeanor. Although the fruit is hard to find on opening, it does eventually pop up, nicely supported by the wine's backbone. This was not, on opening, showing quite as well as it did when I saw it in Porto over the summer, but I know the fruit is there—it was very tasty in Porto—and I'm reasonably certain the wine will overcome the wood in time. Indeed, the next day, it had pulled in much of it. At that point, however, it was also sterner and tighter, its serious backbone asserting itself, while the fruit was subdued. This does need some time in the cellar. Give it a few years—or more—and come back when its parts will be better integrated (say, around 2023). The biggest of Conceito's offerings this issue, this looks like a potential star, but let's see how this relatively new brand does with a few years in the cellar."- Mark Squires, The Wine Advocate
